State of Massachusetts Psychologist III - Adolescent Services in Worcester, Massachusetts

Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced clinical psychologist to provide clinical risk screening and assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, psychodiagnostics assessment, supervision of psychology services provided to designated units/program/caseload, interdisciplinary team consultation, and positive behavioral support (PBS) interventions. _Please Note:_ This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The days off are Saturday and Sunday. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Participates in deciding whether or not to accept people for treatment; refers patients to appropriate services. * Conducts Psychology Admission Assessments and identifies patients in need of risk evaluations through use of the DMH screening tools, risk history, CORI review, and patient interview. * Performs Psychological testing functions, including assessments related to cognitive, neuropsychological, personality, and functional needs. * Provides Specialized Risk Assessments as assigned including, but not limited to, Violence Risk, Fire-Setting Risk, Suicide Risk, Substance Use Risk, as well as complete referral documents for MIPSB (Mentally Ill Problematic Sexual Behavior) according to DMH/WRCH standards and professional practice expectations. * Offers crisis intervention, treatment planning, and relapse prevention. * Provides individual and group therapy services consistent with the Psychologists competencies and Psychology practice standards. * Documents treatment consistent with CMS and Joint Commission guidelines. * Supports incentive-based behavior management programs and individualized behavioral interventions according to WRCH protocols and Psychology practice standards. * Participates in relevant hospital training, both as a learner and contributor, as needed, and meets all training responsibilities both by DMH and for psychological licensure. Meets with and performs administrative and other tasks as requested by the hospital leadership and/or the Director of the Psychology Department. * Provides clinical supervision and education to assigned post-doctoral psychology staff, doctoral interns, advanced practicum students, and other psychology or interdisciplinary trainees; participates in planning/developing related training programs. _Required Qualifications_: * Current and valid registration as a Psychologist by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Psychology. * Knowledge of the ethical principles, and standards of practice of the Professional Psychologist * Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the symptoms of mental and/or emotional disorders (including risk assessment: interview, psychological testing and neuropsychological testing.) * Ability to analyze observational, interview and psychological test data to draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. * Skilled in applying knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of psychotherapy (and related evidence-based practices). * Capacity to apply knowledge of motivation, basic behavioral analysis and principles associated with positive behavioral support. * Knowledge of the methods of general report writing, statistical methods and techniques including sampling. * Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential matters appropriately. _Preferred Qualifications_: * Inpatient experience providing psychology services including risk assessment and psychological testing services to people with serious mental illness. * Knowledge of the types and availability of public or private community-based organizations and resources for treatment or rehabilitation of the mentally ill. * Skilled in crisis intervention and the delivery of individual and group treatment services to people with serious mental illness and acute substance abuse problems. * Ability and ease collaborating and interfacing with diverse populations, including persons served, interns, colleagues, and external constituents. * Proficient usage of Microsoft Office products including Word, Teams, and Outlook * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. * Prior experience working with the adolescent population. _About Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH):_/_ _/ Located on over 20 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient, and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations. WRCH provides inpatient services to 290 adults and 30 adolescents, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service program for 10 patients.
