Job Description

The Assay Operations Team within the Quantitative Bioscience department is looking for an experienced, highly motivated team member to use laboratory automation specifically to support ELISA assay workflows in Vaccine Research. Situated in the Assay Operations group, the individual will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • Operate and troubleshoot both integrated and stand-alone laboratory robotic systems and peripherals to support ELISA assay workflows
  • Learn about assays used in vaccine development and how to transform them to high-

throughput assays using various liquid handlers and robotic platforms

 

  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and on multi-disciplinary discovery project teams to shape and execute ELISA assay strategy to align with project and departmental goals
  • Work in BSL2 research environment and comply with all laboratory safety requirements
  • Work with industry-standard data analysis tools and record keeping, including electronic lab books and analysis software to properly document and report experimental findings and assay protocols

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:

 

  • BS/MS in a life sciences discipline or related engineering field (Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering etc.) and at least five years of experience.

Required Experience and Skills:

 

  • Experience working in BL2 research environment
  • Experience with microplate-based biochemical, biophysical or cell-based assays
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively and independently in a multi-disciplinary environment and to thrive in a team setting
  • Willingness to adapt to learn new assay techniques and instrumentation

Preferred Experience and Skills:

 

  • Experience with operating and troubleshooting Thermo Scientific Momentum automation platforms or other similar automated systems
  • Experience with operating and/or programming Beckman i7 and/or Agilent Bravo liquid handler instruments
  • Previous experience with sample management and ELISAs or other immune assays

Additional Information

Position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00 pm with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of West Point PA are encouraged to apply.
