Job Summary:

Ensures that the quality assurance, quality control and metallurgical functions of the Yankton facility operate consistent with plan, that necessary certifications are maintained, and that customer and sales needs for technical assistance are met.

Required Education/Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in a field that would support a strong quality program.
  • 5 years of experience in Quality
  • 5 years of Manufacturing experience
  • 3 years of Leadershipexperience (preferred)
  • Experience with Pyrometry(preferred)
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Assures the quality of extrusions and re-melt products through the application of technical, metallurgical, process and training.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 and 14001 certification and facilitates advancement toward higher levels of certification as determined by the organization and the needs of automotive and other customers.
  • Help in the identification of and give guidance to the continuous improvement activities of the manufacturing processes (Process Management, understanding variation, etc.).
  • Provide expertise to on-going statistical process control activities by utilizing capability analysis, trend charting, priority analysis, design of experiment, and precision studies.
  • Provide support to the sales and service function by participating in the determination of facility capabilities and by interacting with customers to resolve issues concerning non-conforming material.
  • Knowledge and compliance with manager HSE responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Communicate regularly with Plant Management, Quality Technicians and Quality Manager both verbal and written.
  • Manage Quality Lab Technicians.
  • Responsible for compliance of lab practices to conform to the requirements of the appropriate established standards.
  • Assist with the design, development and maintenance of Lab standard work documentation.
  • Responsible to provide leadership to and monitor the production requirements of the team to meet department specific KPI goals as defined by the Quality Manager.
  • Develop Lab personnel skills in Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving.
  • Responsible to oversee and manage the plant Calibration system to meet requirements identified in QMS documentation.
    • Responsible to collect, manage and report data to support all identified Lab Testing KPIs.
  • Maintain all records associated with Lab Testing and Calibrations.
  • Facilitate Non-Conforming product containment activities and assist with the disposition of suspect material.
  • Audit plant Quality processes to verify conformance to standards (internal or external).
  • Represent Quality on various Problem-Solving teams or task groups to address identified issues or ongoing problems.
  • Dedicated resource to act as Plants Quality Representative on Customer related issues, as assigned
  • Implement, sponsor, and support all continuous reliability improvement standards and practices.
