YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY (OH) Established Date: May 24, 2024 Revision Date: May 24, 2024 SALARY RANGE $44,443.00 - $60,000.00 Annually SUMMARY OF POSITION: Conducts the YSU Wind Ensemble and other instrumental ensembles based upon the candidate's experience and qualifications; directs the graduate instrumental conducting program; teaches classes in music education and conducting; and develops and maintains a national reputation in the field. About: Founded over 150 years ago, the Dana School of Music is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the United States. We offer Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education, Audio and Music Production, and Music Performance at the undergraduate level and Master of Music in Music Performance and Music Education Online at the graduate level. The Cliffe College of Creative Arts (CCCA) is a dynamic component of the Youngstown State University campus and is a major regional arts resource. POSITION INFORMATION: Directs the Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble; additional teaching responsibilities may include directing the Dana Symphony Orchestra, Musical Theatre Ensemble, and/or the Youngstown State University Youth Orchestra, and classroom/studio courses in music education, conducting, and other possible areas consistent with candidate's area(s) of expertise. Fosters collaboration and builds relationships-regionally and nationally-with music organizations and programs (secondary and collegiate) through touring, adjudicating, and conducting honors ensembles, presenting clinics/master classes, offering workshops, and hosting ensembles on campus. Establishes a national reputation as a conductor/scholar through creative works, recordings, and/or publications. Participates in faculty committees and governance commensurate with lecturer responsibilities. Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.
